Student batch intakes are limited to not less than sixteen cadet pilots per batch intake. There are a maximum of seven batch intakes annually or every alternate month at MFA.

The airfields in the immediate vicinity are the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the Subang International Airport to the north. Airfields available for flight training especially in radio aids are located in Johor, Ipoh, Penang, Langkawi and Kota Baru. Training is carried out at these airfields for the cadet pilots' practice in ILS, VOR and NDB letdowns and approaches. The Malacca International Airport itself has ILS, a VOR and an NDB.
